Commercial height: 7.60m; Diameter: (DHB) 54.3cm; (DAB) 52.1 cm; Trunk: straight; Buttress: from low to 2.70m.

 

General characteristics:

Heartwood/sapwood: slightly distinct to indistinct;

Color: light reddish brown (2.5YR 6/4);

Growth rings: slightly distinct;

Grain: interlocked cross;

Texture: medium;

Tangential figure: caused by prominent vascular lines;

Radial figure: in slightly prominent longitudinal bands caused by the grain;

Luster: lacking;

Odor: disagreeable;

Resistance to manual cross-cutting:

hard. Preservation

 

Preservation:

Wood is moderately easy to preserve with creosote (oil-borne) and with CCA (water-borne).

 

Kiln drying:

Slow (14 days) with slight tendency to medium cupping and pronounced warping Schedule used: MILD.

 

Workability/end-uses:

End-Uses: Heavy construction, light construction, boats, paneling and boxes and crates.
